Oh man, I didn't post anything from my Asheville Trip. I will have to go through and pick out a few. So sorry for dropping the ball!!
|
The ball probably fell down in that Giraffe crotch.
|
So, every time I post something, I'll get hit with an inane reference to something that was fun at the time? Good to know
|
That's what family is for. :p:

I still haven't picked any favorites for Asheville - forgot to be totally honest, but I do have a bunch from the Japanese Garden in Portland:
One of the first pics Attachment 59650 Bridge - I didn't notice the steam when I was taking the picture Attachment 59651 Little waterfall. I wanted the entire pond, but the damn glare ruined all the pics Attachment 59652 Tree by the bridge from above Attachment 59653 |

I loved the workmanship on the paths
Attachment 59654 Another waterfall Attachment 59655 The best waterfall. The full size is even better Attachment 59656 Drain Attachment 59657 |

In these next two, I did see the steam and I tried to get it. It shows up better in the second one at this size. Turned out pretty cool IMHO
Attachment 59658 Attachment 59659 Another border. This one was on the large Zen Garden. I like the difference between the two substances Attachment 59660 Stairs (duh) Attachment 59661 That's it. Hope you enjoy! |

Beautiful garden, beautiful pictures.
Are these ceramic tiles? |
Thanks! I don't really know. I assumed they were stone.
|
Synthetic stone.
|
Nice pictures!
And I too was wondering about that border material. Looks like stone, shaped precisely, just like tile. I'll buy the synthetic stone, whatever that is. I'm guessing stone dust mixed with epoxy. Pressed into a mold. Or extruded and cut off, like playdough. |
Ceramic is, essentially, synthetic stone. Hence 'stoneware'.
But you are correct about that recipe and variations thereof. I've no idea what that stuff is, could be roofing tile, could be resin cast, |
Japanese gardens are teh awesome.
I'm a big fan of wilderness and the chaos of nature, but the chaos you find in nature doesn't produce the lovely natural looking perfection found in this garden. It's like if Disneyland made a forest. |
