What one thing MUST you do today, or else?

3,000 words of translation (no chance, I'm going to a party instead, 4 hours away on the Big Island)!
I'll have to make it an all-nighter when I get back instead!

Trilby 11-05-2011 08:57 AM

oh, limey!

are you going to partake? Because translating after a few could lead to .... an international incident!

;)

Good luck!

The only thing I need to do is enjoy myself. I'm a lucky girl today. :)

Griff 11-05-2011 09:26 AM

I need to trim hooves. I think I can continue to procrastinate on progress notes...

DanaC 11-05-2011 09:58 AM

Mark my students' article reviews

Probably should also re-read the three articles they're reviewing just to refresh my memory.

Been doing an initial read through and noting a provisional grade. Gonna mark the different grade bands together; all the 1sts, all the lower 2nds, all the upper seconds etc. No 3rds so far, but not really expecting any from these students.

Some of them are quite funny. You can see what they've been taught to do in a-level history: identify bias, assess validity.

If I read one more time, about how the range of Morgan's sources 'justifies the validity of her argument', or 'means that her argument is valid' I will cry just a little.

jimhelm 11-05-2011 10:09 AM

I need to crack someone open and shake all their money loose! These fockers gotta buy! I need dough like anyone!

Sundae 11-05-2011 11:19 AM

Need to finish off my room or Mum will spit flames.
All tidied (okay, some just tidied away, snicker) just need to hoover and dust.
But dusting means taking everything off the shelves and putting them back on. And my shelves are as loaded as Limey will be tonight.

I will do it.
Or at least make it look like I've done it ;)

But it's sooooooo dull.
I'm just happy the floor is clear.

Clodfobble 11-05-2011 11:25 AM

I must make hamburger patties, or my daughter will have no breakfast tomorrow. On a slightly less-urgent schedule, I must go to unfamiliar grocery stores to find the applesauce that our store does not have in stock, or else my daughter will have half a lunch and no medicines at school on Monday.

Sundae 11-05-2011 11:26 AM

Any other parent I be questioning about hamburger for breakfast.
But with the attention you pay to your children's food I am just going to assume it's a good idea.

DanaC 11-05-2011 11:35 AM

Homemade burgers, made with the right mince, are a very healthy shot of protein.

Clodfobble 11-05-2011 11:35 AM

I should note that there is no bun, this is just the meat patty she's eating. It seems less weird if you picture them as ground sausage patties instead. :)

It's definitely a good idea nutritionally: protein is the best thing to have first thing in the morning, as it is easier to digest than carbs, and burns more slowly so your blood sugar doesn't spike after a long night of no intake. And as far as meats go, ground meats are easiest to digest, plus I mix a ton of pureed zucchini in when I make them, so she's getting secret veggie nutrients too.

DanaC 11-05-2011 11:42 AM

Mum used to make them for me when I was on one of my more restricted diets. I still, now and again, will let burgers cool and stick them in the fridge to eat as a cold snack, 'cus that's what I used to take if we were going off out and I needed a packed lunch that didn't come in a roughneck flask and reek of cabbage.

This is done. Thank you Mr W. The platinum package is a very wise investment for this vehicle.

BrianR 11-05-2011 12:55 PM

I really must paint the skirting on the back side of my house today. If I procrastinate until tomorrow, I will be rained on (according to the forecast) and run afoul of my wife's plan to spend the entire afternoon grocery shopping.

The excessive time spent getting food is necessary because she intends to make her monthly trip to the commissary, a two-hour drive away, tomorrow. I am against this because we also need to visit my credit union and it isn't open on Sundays. We'll see if my feminine logic can hold up to hers. ;)

Lamplighter 11-05-2011 06:50 PM

Set our clocks back an hour for the end of Daylight Savings Time

HungLikeJesus 11-05-2011 07:07 PM

If you do it too soon you might forget you did it, and then do it again.

classicman 11-05-2011 08:47 PM

Pack.

ZenGum 11-05-2011 08:51 PM

Breathe.

BrianR 11-05-2011 11:19 PM

Done!

ZenGum 11-06-2011 01:13 AM

So, BrianR and Sheldon visit for the first time in ages .. at the same time. :eyebrow:

DanaC 11-06-2011 06:12 AM

Today the one thing I MUST do...is the fucking marking I didn't do yesterday...

Why didn't I do the marking yesterday I hear you ask (for some reason in Monster's voice....go figure ;P). Well, I'll tell you why.

I did about five of them, and then had a blinder of an idea: I know, thinks I. I'll roll a pure.

I am now fully caught up on Merlin, Hidden and the new Boss series from Starz...

Trilby 11-06-2011 06:29 AM

It warms my heart, Dani, to know that sometimes you do things just exactly like I do them. :P

DanaC 11-06-2011 06:40 AM

I think possibly a more accurate reading of the situation would be, that I sometimes do things the way other people do them. Mostly my modus operandi is as stated above :p

Griff 11-06-2011 07:01 AM

maybe I'll do the hooves and notes today instead...

Clodfobble 11-06-2011 09:19 AM

I made the hamburgers. I did not get the applesauce. To the store today, then.

But technically, I have just enough applesauce cups to get her through school/therapy on Monday. I do not, on the other hand, have enough meatballs. So it's entirely possible that whatever productive energy I may have today will be enirely spent on meatballs, and I will put off applesauces again until tomorrow morning.

Clean out the chicken coops. BAH.

limey 11-06-2011 12:31 PM

Back home after the paaartay (over Peebles way) and now must do that translation (so here I am on Teh Cellar!)

This sounds eerily familiar to me...

Been visiting more but I usually post from work but they have been fiddling around with the blocker there so sometimes I can't get to the site. :-(

And I've been having sex with BrianR. :-)

HungLikeJesus 11-06-2011 07:18 PM

That's confusing!

ZenGum 11-07-2011 01:12 AM

Yeah, who would ... what ... where?

BrianR 11-07-2011 10:36 AM

I am NOT telling! ;)

limey 11-07-2011 11:40 AM

So now we know what one thing Sheldon and BrianR MUST do today ...

Stormieweather 11-07-2011 11:45 AM

Argh!! The financial packages have to be compiled and ready for delivery. Six commercial property financials that I've already prepared and printed, but they need to be sorted according to the table of contents. Partner was supposed to do it last night, but he set them on the counter and as of this morning, they were still there, unsorted..../scream! No time for me to complete as I had to make lunches and whisk the young one out the door to school.

So now they're late according to the schedule I prepared, the one that I request the other people adhere to. :yelsick:

bluecuracao 11-07-2011 02:02 PM

I must go get stuff to make steak fajitas for dinner tonight!

I have some of the ingredients, but not the critical items like red and yellow peppers, lime, cilantro, and steak.

DanaC 11-07-2011 04:01 PM

@ Stormie: that totally blows.

wolf 11-07-2011 06:38 PM

Finishing up packing. I am going to New York tomorrow with wrongwaycorrigan. We will be staying with a friend of hers in Queens.

My understanding of the schedule is

Tues - Drive up, have Chinese take-out, sleep
Wed - Wake up, take elevated to Manhattan, visit 9-11 Memorial (main purpose of visit), take elevated back to Queens, Portuguese take-out, sleep
Thurs - Drive back.

During this adventure I will also be meeting "Metro the Chicken," illegal livestock belonging to wrongway's friend's tennant. Metro was found in a subway station, I'm told.

Other than paella I have no idea what Portuguese food entails.

DanaC 11-07-2011 06:41 PM

'wrongwaycorrigan'. I gotta ask, how what where etc?

wolf 11-07-2011 06:44 PM

I've mentioned wrongway before.

She's a retired Navy Lieutenant.

She has no sense of direction.

She's the one who got lost making a five minute drive back to a restaurant ... after she'd marked the restaurant on her in-car GPS.

She has also started hiking the wrong direction while Geocaching.

She says that in OCS she regularly plotted charts that were 180 degrees off. Thank goodness in her day they didn't allow women on ships. Or near missile systems.

DanaC 11-07-2011 07:11 PM

the name rang a bell with me, but I couldn't remember ever hearing how it was acquired :p

glatt 11-08-2011 09:50 AM

Today is election day. I'll probably vote, since my walk home from the Metro takes me within 100 feet of my polling place. But I'm still not sure. It's a lame election year.

If you lived in Oregon, you'd be home now.
We vote by mail...

SamIam 11-08-2011 10:02 AM

I have to check out the local group that gets together with other folks, nationwide in order to buy groceries in bulk at whole sale prices. I have been told that members of this group save around 40% on groceries. You don't have to pay to join, and you can pick out most of the food that goes into your box(es). You can get fresh fruit and veggies, meat, holiday foods, etc. I've been meaning to go down and check them out for months, and today is finally the day!

DanaC 11-08-2011 10:43 AM

What a brilliant idea.

BigV 11-08-2011 10:54 AM

Today is election day. I will vote, and so will Mom. I will have to take her ballot to her, we'll probably have lunch, maybe go for a ride.

No on 1125
No on 1183
Yes on 1

Forch and Maier are leaders for me.

CzinZumerzet 11-08-2011 11:00 AM

Go across town to collect more poppies then stand about in the High Street selling them to passers by. Five more days to go, lots of money to raise, getting colder by the day...

Is it called Azure Standard? That's the one we use, and it's fantastic.

fargon 11-08-2011 04:28 PM

Boke a smowl.

WA, too. I don't know why every state doesn't do this.

It's just one more thing that makes the Pacific Northwest so freakin' awesome.

Tonight, I must drink until my face falls off. Then I must wake up really early and put my face back on, then drink until my ass falls off. Don't worry, all in the comfort of my own home, which will be characteristically empty except for the presence of a piece of shit drunk.

It's serendipitous, actually. It's a commentary on life. It's science, but it's art.

I might take pictures for the november photo contest.

Really, I can do it if I want. No one is the wiser. Not even bud.

Periodically I might poke my ass out a window and tell the world to kiss it.

Gravdigr 10-12-2014 02:31 PM

It's beautiful here today. Not a lot of days like today left in the year. GrandCherokeeOne is in fighting trim again, and I haven't been more than 2 miles from home in a pretty good while, so I must go to the river. I must.

I got the sticky-icky, a little petrol, a sixer, a Sweet Coronella, and a lawn chair. Gonna grab some BBQ and buns from the black guy on the cawnuh (that man was born to smoke meat), and then...

I'm out.

Later taters!

BigV 10-12-2014 03:00 PM

later bro.

Sounds awesome, grav! Hope you have/had a really great day. It was nice here too. Did some cruising to look at autumn trees, but it's football season, so I had some obligations there. ;)

Aliantha 10-12-2014 04:59 PM

I must make some taste tester cupcakes or else i might lose a big job i have coming up in a couple of weeks.

fargon 10-12-2014 05:41 PM

I must eat the chuck roast that I have spent the last 4 hours smoking.

orthodoc 10-13-2014 09:20 PM

I must prep my talk for the 0800 ED meeting tomorrow, at which time I must convey to them that failing to observe Occ Med protocol will mean that their future employment will be in Alaska, or possibly doing home evaluations for Medicare.

And then I must continue studying for my Board exam (Thursday) until I fall unconscious.
