Toy poodle survives fall from the sky after bird snatches her from the ground

[it is cute and cuddly Friday right?]

A plucky pooch miraculously survived a fall from the sky after fighting her way free from the clutches of a bird of prey, officials say.

May, a 6-year-old toy poodle, was found with deep gouges and several broken ribs after dropping from the sky onto the grounds of a nursing home in Canada.

The dog was rushed into emergency surgery and is recovering. Officials with the British Columbia SPCA have dubbed her "Miracle May."

Veterinarians say the lucky dog had severely decayed teeth and overgrown claws, leading them to believe she was a stray.

"We don't know how long she had been wandering without care but she was obviously very neglected," said SPCA manager Shannon Broderick. "It's ironic, but this bird may have saved her life."

The dog underwent thousands of dollars of surgeries for her injuries and extensive dental work, which was paid for by kind-hearted donors, Broderick said.

Dozens of people have lined up to offer May a home and she will be placed as soon as she is well enough.

Christians, if you must walk your dog on rapture day, remember to let go of the leash!

Now this poodle, Shmoopy, has nothing to fear from birds of prey. Nor from bears either.

Quote:

A hunter in his spare time, Robert Carroll has encountered many bears.

But certainly never in his backyard.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Carroll's daughter Danielle, 21, was sitting on the porch when she heard rustling noises from the corner of the yard at Carroll's home in the 10700 block of 128th Avenue Northeast in the Rose Hill neighborhood. When an approximately 200-pound black bear approached her within 15 feet, she yelled, "There's a bear in the backyard!"

Carroll ran outside and thought his daughter could be mistaking the bear for a dog. But sure enough, it was a bear.

Carroll watched as his teacup poodle, Shmoopy, ran straight for the bear and chased it up a tree.
This city, Kirkland, is just a short drive across the lake from me.

The bear regaining his composure scooped up Schmoopy and asked "Does shit stick to your fur?" To this Schmoopy replied "why no!" It was then the bear casually wiped his butt using Schmoopy.

What a cute dog! Reminds me a tad of Moar's little Bichon.
