Carter USM - Say It With Flowers
Old tune, old concert, still love it.

If you like it, check out their others - they are wonderfully witty. The Taking of Pelham was on TV the other day, and I went round humming Carter's Taking of Peckham all day (Peckam is a London suburb and my Nan used to live there).

Other titles include 24 Minutes to Tulse Hill and The Only Living Boy in New Cross (again, both London addresses).

They were more than their punning though. Their best known (here, anyway) was a polemic about slum landlords. From the same concert I believe. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Sheriff Fatman. Jump around.

From the year 1973, the heaviest shit ever.

Great! if you want to slam your head against a brick wall. Repeatedly.

the tapping guy

I don't know if this is "good music" but...
...it's like a Terry Bozzio drum solo played on a guitar.

I've been watching this guy's videos for ½ an hour now.

I love when musicians play something other than drums, but were "raised" on the percussionist style. It's pretty cool. Thanks Flint.

Rediscovered this thread.
Fucking hell. LOVE Carter USM

This isn't really a video, it's just there to represent the sound. But crikey me, it is wonderful. It reminded me (at the time) how beautiful Neil Tennant's voice was. And how raw Carter were, but how fucking powerful.

It might not seem like anything now. But they moved something inside of me that I called a soul.

TheMercenary 08-04-2009 08:12 PM

Seemings as how I grew up around this area this is only fitting.

It was Merc that posted the tapping guy--thanks Merc!

I just found a Bozzio solo from 1999 that was only released on VHS. This is the kit he played the very first time I saw one of his free clinics at Guitar Center. Oh my God! This changed my life. ... This solo, unlike Bozzio's other melodic/harmonic, shifting time-signature, ostinato-based "drumset orchestra" pieces, is basically just a bad-ass, "linear" groove.

Edit: Embedding is disabled in these videos. Here is a link that cuts to the grand finale, after which he looks just like Bruce Lee after kicking fifty dude's asses.
