Family nostalgia trip sounds grand! I look forward to seeing the hair cut. You could time it for 4pm on a Sunday and we could all watch :eyeball::eyeball:

monster 04-06-2020 10:41 AM

Remember how I was saying it wasn't unusual for snow after Easter in Michigan?

https://www.mlive.com/weather/2020/0...e-in-week.html. grr.

If it happens, it damn well better be enough and the perfect type to make an uuuuuuuge snowbeing

Ha! Well played.

glatt 04-06-2020 11:29 AM

I love it.

footfootfoot 04-08-2020 07:04 AM

What are everyone’s current thoughts on continuing to use zoom in light of all the recent late stage capitalism on their part?

Whether we use the available toys or not the decline of our civilization continues. If we use the toys to check in with our fellow humans its worth the moral risk.

xoxoxoBruce 04-08-2020 11:30 AM

Corporations and organizations have glomed in on zoon because it was there when they needed something right now. As anything that attracts that much attention there will always be people trying to make a buck off it. While the money boys tussle a small group can slip through completely unnoticed. The tussle will happen regardless of what you do so go, baby, go!

monster 04-11-2020 05:06 PM

um are we on for tomorrow, given it's a religious holiday celebrated with special meals by some.....?

(I think it's the anniversary of FSM's noodles being reheated in the microwave and the world realizing they were still edible...)

BigV 04-11-2020 05:51 PM

I say yes.

lumberjim 04-11-2020 07:43 PM

4 of the clock? Be drunk, bring an instrument.

monster 04-12-2020 12:14 AM

works for me. I plan to make spag bol to honor the noodly one, but much, much later and it will be a traditional beestmonster family meal -i.e. eaten in separate rooms with no social interaction

limey 04-12-2020 06:06 AM

We are on. Easter Virtual Forks is happening.

That is would be pretty funny, if it weren't so tragic. goddamn phone battery...

for the record, the Zoom app for Android is a battery HOG. That's the last sighting of me as I was cursing the phone as it shut down in the middle of my story, goddammit. I've since returned to the meeting, but THEY'VE ALL SCATTERED.

BigV 04-12-2020 04:48 PM

But in all honesty, thank you limey for hosting these meetings. They are tremendously connecting in a time when connection is in short supply. I appreciate you for all your work. Thank you.

That game you were discussing.....Wingspan... HFS ......how expensive is that currently in a real-world format? (board games may also be another of my hoarding things, but I was brought up on them and so were my kids...)

($150)

(yes, I see it can be purchased for less, but as a starting price, that's pretty hefty!....)

BigV 04-12-2020 08:19 PM

I paid $60, just as it was at the end of the kickstarter campaign

BigV 04-12-2020 08:20 PM

If you want to play via the internet I would love to play with you

Griff 04-13-2020 06:48 AM

Yeah that's a pricey game.

We played The Parks game when the girls/lads came for the holidays. The artwork is gorgeous.

footfootfoot 04-13-2020 10:02 AM

What platform are we using for virtuous forks? I would like to figure out how to join you.

Zoom, which I still find clumsy opening, but it seems to do well with my low bandwidth.

I love Parks!

I was an early backer of that Kickstarter campaign, got the playing cards, etc. I have also backed the expansion recently. I expect to take delivery late summer /early fall.

Griff 04-13-2020 01:10 PM

You can buy the posters as well.

Is that one on your virtual board?

monster 04-19-2020 10:23 PM

Ya know guys, I hate having my photo taken and talking on the phone and all that.... I did it the first time to be a big brave girl and practice for my job interview.... but you lot make it worth the pain ;) ty. :)

Griff 04-20-2020 06:31 AM

All the cool kids do it! Some of us are sleepier than others but very enjoyable. Jim on guitar is a nice touch, homey.

Clodfobble 04-20-2020 07:26 AM

Dammit, I missed it again. Stupid family drama obligations. Teenagers (and 20-somethings who act like teenagers) are not my favorite thing right now. I WILL be there next week.

Thanks! I'll have to brush up a new one for next week. Maybe you could dust yours off and join in. Know any easy 3 chord songs we know the words to?

Griff 04-20-2020 08:25 PM

I’m not sure you need me to torture a guitar but I’m sure there are some tunes we can sing along to.

monster 04-20-2020 11:50 PM

Jim is an amazingly talented musician and guitar-maker
