good music on youtube

so ya know.....to include a you tube video, go to the video, off to the right there is a bit that has a jumble of letters and numbers in a field next to the letters 'URL'. these same characters appearin the url line of your browser. highlight everything after the '=' sign. copy it (ctrl+c) and paste it(ctrl+v) in between the following tags...

[youtube ] paste it here [ /youtube] ...no spaces.

so, now that we know how to do it, let's share some stuff we like.

here's a good one:

There is something compelling about this wierd Canadian chick. (Lederhosen Lucil) I watched it a bunch of times. If I like synth pop does that mean I'm turning emo?

What a pain in the ass that was.
Added the IE add-on, downloaded, wouldn't play, needed codec.
Finally found the codec and installed, wouldn't play, needed sound codec.
Found a package(K-lite) that included the sound codec and installed, didn't help.
Tried converting the video using their site, wouldn't play.
Downloaded a free FLV player. works
I also tried using them to download rather than the IEadd-on, but that was no help.

So now I go to the page where the video is, right click, menu comes up, left click download, a pop-up opens(won't stay on top), left click download, add FLV file extension, play with the FLV player.

It shouldn't be that hard but now I have SG singing on my hard drive, forever.

footfootfoot 02-19-2007 11:11 AM

That's odd. I used the firefox plugin and all I have to do is right click and there is a download video option. however, at some sites I'm unable to download. I'll check the software you linked to.

What did it download, what kind of file? How do you play it? It maybe something to do with IE-7, although it says the codecs are Vista compatible.

I get an FLV file which I play with VLC since windows media player no longer works on my machine since I dumped Windows Genuine (dis) Advantage. I also lost my calculator, but I think that was unrelated.
