If you order (hot) tea in an American restaurant, you typically get a cup of warm water, and, some time later, a selection of tea bags.

If you don't specify hot tea, you're likely to get iced tea.

And if you are in the south, it's going to be sweet enough to hurt your teeth

Both my grandmother's made a big thing about tea with me when I was a child. They're the ones who encouraged putting milk in my tea, and now I can't enjoy it any other way. Makes it hard for me to like herbal teas....putting milk in them seems weird somehow.

Ewww - milk in herbal tea?

That's just wrong :P

My grandmother drank tea continuously and drank it tar black. No one else in the family could drink it that way. But then, she was different in other ways too like she got a pilot's license before her driver's license.

Did Donald Trump write that copy? (re: Butterfly Tea)

Clodfobble 04-25-2017 06:12 PM

As someone who spends a fair amount of time transcribing people's natural speech patterns, Donald Trump is no more incoherent than most people. He gets fucked over in transcription a lot as well. They make no effort to put in the complex punctuation that's implied when he is personifying (inaccurately, but not the point) the words or position of someone else, nor do they insert an em dash when he has clearly jumped to a new thought.

We should expect someone in his position to be more coherent, absolutely--but the reality is that people with no experience generally speak in badly fragmented phrases when they are put on the spot. We should be far, far more concerned with the message/falsehoods he conveys than how stupidly he conveys it.
