Chetham’s Library, UK’s oldest public library, was built in 1421 as a college (it was a library from 1653).
One of the original doors from that school, seen here, holds a round (and charming) secret: a cat flap!

Bruce that library picture is teh gorge. Manchester isn't all that far from me, if'n I have my travelling shoes on (I change there if I get the train from Leeds to Oxford) so maybe I'll make a pilgrimage one day. Cats n books n architecture. Put some cheese in the mix and you have all my favourite things!

That Cat Becomes Monster drawing looks like an illustration from A Streetcar Named Desire. Or am I just thinking of Ned Flanders' portrayal of Stanley...?

Everyone loves cuddling with kittens. But there can be a little-known danger lurking behind that furry little face and that innocent-sounding meow: a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii).

T. gondii is the most common parasite in developed nations, according to Schizophrenia Bulletin. The cat-carried parasite can infect any warm-blooded species, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates more than 60 million people in the U.S. may have it.

Most people never suffer any symptoms at all. But in those with weaker immune systems, infection with T. gondii can cause an illness called toxoplasmosis, which can result in miscarriages, fetal development disorders, weeks of flu-like illness, blindness and even death. It has also been associated with mental disorders including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Now two more studies explore the mental health issues in greater detail.

Pizza delivery guy could own me any time if'n I got free pizza.

I'm joking btw, because when I lived in London I had to stop ordering from the local place when a delivery guy had the hots for me and tried to buy my devotion with free side orders)
