STEREO Observes a Lunar Eclipse of the Sun
STEREO is actually two spacecraft which, when fully operational, will make 3D pictures and movies of the Sun from their vantage points over a million miles apart. For now, this video shot by one of the craft is pretty fucking cool.

I didn't realize it happened so fast. :haha:
The Sun is very cool, writhing and bubbling like a live thing. |
You're right. It IS cool.
|
Actually, it's pretty damn hot!

My mind is nearly boggled thinking about the 3D data that is going to come out of this mission. Can you imagine a solar prominence or a huge coronal mass ejection shown in 3D video?
I should have put this in the "What Gives You Wood" thread, 'cause I'm getting a stiffy. |
dont move! we'll get a towel!
