No - wait, what? ZOOLOGY comes in at #2? I have a degree in Zoology and employers can't reject my applications quickly enough. I did get a temporary job censusing prairie chickens for the Forest Service last summer, and that was it. I'm now considering applying for a place on a Smoke Jumper crew. Fire fighting in the West has become a guaranteed job every summer and the fire season starts earlier and lasts longer each year.

Zoology indeed! :eyebrow:

But do you have a Master's or PhD beyond your Zoology degree? Consider the "higher degree holders" column on the right--the majority of zoology folks in this chart have got something else on top of their bachelor's to aid in that salary. Presumably the 78% of pre-med majors with higher degrees have an MD, for example. You don't get a salary of $130,000 if you get a pre-med degree and then stop; if anything, those are the guys dragging down the salary average of the 78% who went all the way.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'd bet that a lot of those Zoology undergrads surveyed went on to be veterinarians, who get paid almost as much as people-doctors.

Also, it doesn't mean you won't have to move thousands of miles to find work.
