The Uncomfortable Truth

Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr discusses the American Right's shift from libertarianism to fascism using the Oklahoma bombing as the fulcrum. I'd like to expand his thought on this just a little bit. Why exactly did the OK Bombing kill of the Republican revolution? I'd say it has a lot to do with media. During this time period Rush made his big flip from libertarianism to statism probably out of personal fear that he was going to be held responsible due to his inflated rhetoric. We also have to remember that the mainstream media outlets writers tend to be left-statists and it was up to them in a pre-blog world to shape opinion. They wouldn't see the differance between a bomber, a libertarian Republican or a conservative Republican. All opposed the Democratic agenda so they were the same. Lew says we need to make our rhetoric more left friendly which is easy to do with Bush in charge but I almost think we need a libertarian Democrat movement to have any success in rolling back government.
