General purpose, I think something old fashioned like Garamond is always pleasant. On screens, I believe Verdana is one of Microsoft's finest achievements. These are boring choices, but it's because they've worked well for us all.

I now work with a group in India. Discussing urgent, highly technical networking issues. Every single word they speak is annoying, because I can't understand them for shit, and we need to get work done. I love them, and I want them to succeed, but my patience is damn near over.

I have the same problem with them, it's probably because they learned English from the Brits.

Now take British English with a British accent, add an Indian sing song inflection over long distance phone line to a hearing impaired American. Fugetaboutit.
