Metal is coming. - House Stark

Hear me rock. - House Lannister

Family, Duty, Metal. - House Tully

We do not autotune. - House Greyjoy

And now my solo begins. - The Night's Watch

Ours is the headbang. - House Baratheon

The crowd gathers, and now my guitar solo begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no pause, hold nothing back, . I shall wear no glam, and win no grammy's. I shall shred and rock on this stage. I am the solo in the darkness. I am the moshpit near the walls. I am the fire that burns in the hearts of the crowd, the metal that brings the dusk, the axe that wakes the sleepers, the Rock that shakes the realms of men

even better. I've been dicking around with this tune, and have a recognizable bit, but this guy .... this guy nails it

classicman 05-26-2012 11:36 AM

Those were both really good!

Errors - "A Rumour In Africa": A clash between post-rock and dancy electronica.

The guitar man...without his guitar.

The best band no one ever heard of. This is the kind of music that speaks to your soul even if you do not understand the lyrics, this band has a unique sound that is unmatched by anyone else.

I listen to () almost every day.

Do you like Of Monsters and Men (another Icelandic group)?

I really like it, but it's a little to "stringy" to be rock, IMHO.

What would you call The Cure?

Undertoad 05-30-2012 09:20 PM

The Cure is Alternative, which was to say that it was too far off rock to be rock, too far off new wave to be new wave, and too far off punk to be punk.

Alternative: The Smiths "How Soon Is Now", 1984

maineiac04631 06-02-2012 10:52 PM

I would put the Cure in the goth category, they have a similar orientation as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, etc. Pale skin, jet black hair, trenchcoats. I remember when A Forest came out, what a mind blowing song.

Anyway, I saw this 2 broke girls show the other night for the first time, there was this guitar riff that was played over and over again and it gave me this earworm because I heard this song about 100 times. Do the regular viewers even know that came from a real song in a land where copious amounts of Lynyrd Shitard infest the FM airwaves?

Undertoad 06-02-2012 11:05 PM

Stylistically I agree. But many people say the Cure stole much of their sound from New Order who could not be further from goth, so it's a weird thing.

Flint 06-02-2012 11:31 PM

Wait a second, but wasn't Joy Division like total proto-goth?

It's funny because Pooka prefers Joy Division and The Smiths whereas I always liked New Order and solo Morrissey.

She makes fun of me.

Never really my scene, weren't Joy Division and New Order essentially the same thing plus or minus Ian Curtis?

Ibby 06-07-2012 12:54 AM

really great cover, really ahead of their time by like a decade. this was recorded in 1984, but it sounds like great late-90s post-grunge garage
