I will be in Midway PA on Wednesday, all day. That is on I-78, for those who never heard of it.

I will be terrorizing New Yawk traffic the following morning, in Queens and all local roads from the Triboro bridge to the Javits center.

Midway PA is the big city just west of MacDonald. Pittsburgh is one of its suburbs. That is what they say in Midway.

That would be I-79, I-76, I-70, or US 22; not I-78.

According to my GPS, it is just west of Hamburg, on I-78.

Who am I to argue?

Take it with a grain of tw. ;)

They navigate by McDonald's over there? One would think there would be too many....

McDonald, Pennsylvania.

Midway, Pennsylvania
BTW, Ralph did a tremendous lamb roast. As do his sons today. People who know western PA know why Midway is a major center for western PA.

Hamburg is well known for a massive and famous hunting, fishing, camping store known as Cabelas. Located on 61 and I-78.

Also just north is the Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern rail station and yard. He did a superb job of restoring Port Clinton's station and many classic rail stock. He bought rail spurs as hobby. Became a major transporter of coal. But is making a fortune because his lines now service from the Wilkes Barre region to Reading - a preferred route from Canada to east coast ports by Canadian railroads. I only took notice because his rail infrastructure was so well maintained. Then discovered his other assets including a classic railroad station and scenic tours through the Leigh Gorge. It is how a railroad should operate.

Also in Hamburg is the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum. Its last opening for the season is Saturday and Sunday (Jan 14 & 15).

Don't know of any Midway in those townships. Also cannot recommend any 'best' places to eat. Just off I-81 (on the old US 22) is an Old Country Buffet. Not many left any more. Good food for a good price.

Meanwhile, you missing Ralph's lamb roast in Midway. Good time had by all. xoxoxoBruce was not invited.

We have that problem up here not with McDonalds but with a string of convenience stores called Stewarts. They are everywhere and all the towns around here look pretty much the same so the obvious landmark choice would be a convenience store on the corner where you need to turn, except there are too many. Their motto is "We are closer to you."

I think it would be funny if someone was following directions to a party and ended up at the wrong party and hung out for an evening with people they didn't know, assuming their friends hadn't shown up yet, or more likely up here, the people know their friends,

I have this weird feeling like i've mentioned this before.

Might make for a good Rom-Com

Pamela 01-10-2017 08:53 PM

Okay. I can't believe I'm saying this but..... tw is right and I was mistaken. Note the date on your calendars.

I am in Bethel, near Hamburg at the MIDWAY truck stop. Close but wrong.

Oh, I am SO ashamed!

xoxoxoBruce 01-10-2017 08:59 PM

Don't feel bad he preys on confused truckers. LOCK YOUR DOORS!

captainhook455 01-10-2017 10:33 PM

I was a trucker. Had my hazmats too. I will be in Altoona Thursday afternoon. The part is a used Rampage bike lift for $1400. It is used for loading a heavy assed bike in a pickup truck by ones self. I will be there just long enough to shoot the shit. Then it is 4.5 hrs to where Jim is. Like 13 hrs driving. There will be a permanent crease in the seat from my butt crack. Jim must think I'm fucking rich. Sent me links to a place only has 5 rooms. Then next link look like the motel next to the Crazy Horse. He finally says if you can't find anything you can stay with me. Wheeeeee hooooooo. It is a dream come true if he can stand me. My wife says I'm an.....well never mind what she says.

You'll have to be de-loused and approved by the housing committee, but this should be an interesting weekend.

I think maybe I'll invite a few other insane friends over to watch the game Sunday. Try to find out how awesome Amanda really is. I wouldn't have thought of attempting this with Shelby. She would have had none of this.

lumberjim 01-11-2017 01:51 AM

Ute/Jaqulita, Dave, Bruce... You guise have plans from 4-8 on Sunday?

Undertoad 01-11-2017 07:46 AM

Aaron Rodgers is a great QB with remarkable long ball accuracy
