March 30, 2012 Mommy and Me

I guess this is a new born hedgehog and its mommy. SO cute!!

I originally saw this on that cute site. It didn't give a photo credit, so I went looking.

I found it again at kawaii case. Still no photo credit, so I looked some more.

That led me to broken controllers, which led me to reddit.

My goodness! I really do think that people should give credit where credit is due. Don't you?

Thank you for your patience and my apologies for my lateness in posting today. We have a little, all right, big family crisis. My dear sweet bi-polar husband decided he needed to leave the country. As in RIGHT NOW. Bye bye bank account, I'll see you when I see you.

Life can certainly get weird.

Gee, and us humans think we have it bad. Imagine having to force something covered in spikes out of the birth canal!

Here are a couple more babies for your viewing pleasure:

Cute pic, CM.

And so sorry to hear about the bank account and hubby. Hope it all sorts out eventually with as little hurt as possible.

Here is another really cute pic:

Hedgehogs are wonderful creatures and well worth encouraging into our gardens. Eating slugs and snails they have become known as the "gardeners' friend". Coming out at dusk has given them a secretive appeal as they snuffle their way through the undergrowth.

Baby hodgepigs have soft spines, aside from being born in a sac. They are extremely vulnerable.
Mama hedgehogs are FIERCE - and not in a Tyra Banks way.
They will kill their whole litter if they are disturbed.

Wow!

I suspected the babies had soft spines or something to protect mommy. Nature does have its kindnesses.

Interesting to hear they are born in a sac. Does make sense, though, to protect the mum.

I love the way the baby hedehog (hedgepiglet?) is throwing its arms up in the arm and going "yippeeeeeeee!"

Calimama, all the best with your crisis. We've suffered from mental illness in our family, and I know how hard it can be to live with, even when you know they can't stop it themselves, and you still love them to bits. Not to mention: what would WE do every day if you're not in a state to entertain us with these wonderful pics? ;)

Here's one of my all time fave cute animals videos, a hedgehog eating a piece of carrot. My husband can do a passable imitation of this (he has spiky hair and can move his scalp as well).

Best to you CaMama.

Clodfobble 03-31-2012 09:21 PM

No need to apologize Cali. Take care of yourself and your family, and I hope things get better soon.

Thanks

Those hedgehogs are so cute! Thanks for the images.

Best of luck to you with the situation with your husband.

Good luck Cali.

Sorry Cals, didn't see the additional message.
Do what you have to do, IoTD is the least of your worries.
Love to you and yours.
