April 3, 2013 - Psycho Dog!
In an effort to um, ah, well, provide a more balanced coverage, in light of the many cat postings lately, I offer two shots of my dog Jake. He's half Rat Terrier and half Rhodesian Ridgeback. Weighs about 35lbs. Has a perfect ridge with dual swirls that all the purebred owners sulk about and everyone else asks why he's so angry thinking his hair is standing up. :p:
http://cellar.org/2013/P1280052.jpg http://cellar.org/2013/P1280028.jpg When he wants to play catch he brings his ball over and requests playment. His entire world shrinks to The Ball and not letting it get away. He caught me lying on the floor trying to write software. I had my new camera with a very fast lens on it and wondered if I could actually get a picture of him catching the ball. All his movements are so fast your eye can't follow it. He is blindingly fast. Shocking fast. I've thrown the ball past him and he's accelerated from standing still to up beyond the balls speed to where he's running next to it and once the relative velocity has reached zero he closes in and essentially plucks the stationary ball out of the air. All in perhaps four paces. Here I'm throwing the ball at his face and triggering the shutter at the same time in a fairly dark room. The second pic is him just waiting for me to 'look' like I'm about to throw the ball. As soon as a throw looks eminent he retracts the pink heat exchanger and goes into Focus. |
Oh. he's gorgeous. But jesus, how did that mix happen??
My bro has a Rhodesian Ridgeback (his second). She's a solid mass of muscle. |
He is a wild looking critter! Awesome.

Just went and wiki'd Rat Terrier. They're lovely! They're like a more elegant Jack Russell.
I am still baffled as to how that mix happened though lol. Just the sheer logistics of it...bloody hell. |
Well Hello, Jake! Bravo, SPUCK!

Jake may need to see the doggie dentist for plaque removal.
Tennis balls are the worst dog toy ever; as the fuzz accrues grit, they wear the teeth at many times the normal rate. The animated reply is kind of hard on those of us who still use dial-up. |

Ha! Got no clue what-so-ever. He was a rescue dog we adopted from a lady who rescued him. He has a few neurosis. He can't stay outside if any birds show up with piercing squeaks. He will attack skunk, after skunk, after skunk. He has absolutely no understanding of cars. None. He'd probably be hit almost immediately so we have to be very watchful for him. But if you're small and fast he's after you in a flash. Unless you're a bird or a dog. :3eye: |

We overheard a passing kid tell his friend authoritatively, "That's a Razorback". So now we do too. :D WOW Foot! Thanks for the song! I've stuck it to the refer. I don't recognize it's root.. |
A razorback hahahaha. I love it.

Serious LOL at razorabck.
Now you'll have a tune to go with your puppy's song! I'm guessing you are either from another country or very young, SPUCK. And thanks Dana for that flashback. |
Thanks DanaC!! Now I get it.
NoT Young.. Just seeing the written lyrics didn't click for me. I actually like that song a lot. Looking around this pic is the best one I have that shows the wild Razorback. http://cellar.org/2013/DSC_0057 (2).jpg |
He's really broad in the chest with a tiny head.
