For the Toad! No visuals, just jazz fusion by Jeff Lorber. (I thought of him today because I found an old ticket stub where I'd seen him.)

Below is Wherever You Are, an original song composed for the wives and girlfriends of RMB Chivenor military base in north Devon, where the men had just departed for a tour in Afghanistan.

It was the subject of a BBC2 doc called The Choir - the format has been used before in deprived areas and with different types of people, but none of them professional singers. The Choirmaster is Gareth Malone, who is an extraordinary man and wonderful at bringing people together in music for their own benefit.

The 'rents watched the serialised programme every week and both cried.
Teachers in the staffroom said how moving the programmes were.
And one TA on Friday said she had to pull her car over on the way into school when the song came on because she needed to cry, hard. She has two sons in the Army. Her middle son is currently serving in the Falkland Islands and will be there for Christmas. In no danger, but in a lonely place.

For those serving around the world.

I do love me a bit of Franz Ferdinand.
Well, all of them mostly.

Oh, I totally love that ad!

And yes that's what put me in mind of the song and sent me off to find the original(and best) Smiths version. Takes me back, so it does. I used to listen to that album on headphones in a dark room, when I was being soulful and far too troubled for my age :p
