4pm Eastern, on a Friday?

glatt 03-29-2020 07:14 AM

I’ll be working then on Friday.

I don’t mean to be dominating the time discussion, just throwing in my data.

Griff 03-29-2020 07:21 AM

I'm working from home so I should have wiggle room.

lumberjim 03-29-2020 03:40 PM

Fork

Pretty asymmetrical, and kind of left handed, but it's more of a decorative piece.

fargon 03-29-2020 03:46 PM

Nice Fork.

monster 03-29-2020 07:18 PM

nice

sexobon 03-29-2020 07:22 PM

Let's see the other side, fork it over.

Griff 03-29-2020 08:35 PM

Forking nice fork making.

lumberjim 03-29-2020 09:27 PM

I rounded the bottoms of the gaps, but...

sexobon 03-29-2020 09:53 PM

Nice.

You could make wooden salad serving forks and back scratchers for Christmas gifts this year.

limey 03-30-2020 08:10 AM

4pm Eastern on a Sunday? (I wanted to type Sundae).

Griff 03-30-2020 08:12 AM

That should work for me.

fargon 03-30-2020 09:46 AM

works for me.

monster 03-30-2020 03:49 PM

yup

lumberjim 03-30-2020 05:19 PM

Kk. Maybe it will be nice out and I can sit on the deck and get wifi. Could do that tour I meant to do.

I'm not cleaning for you, so don't get excited.

glatt 03-30-2020 06:47 PM

works for me. :)

Do you like to wash up first? You know, top and tails... whores bath? Personally before I'm on the job, I like to give my undercarriage a bit of a how's your father!

lumberjim 03-30-2020 09:00 PM

God I hope that's a quote from something.

monster 03-30-2020 10:45 PM

 I'm hoping not......

The whole phrase is a quote from Austin Powers.

How's-yer-father can be used as a thingumajig doohicky kind of a euphemism, and one of the things about AP was he used outdated slang which had come to take on more dubious meaning...

I found one source saying originally it was rhyming slang for lather which would work in this context, but I'm not sure about that

limey 03-31-2020 02:13 AM

Okey dokey. 4pm Eastern time this Sunday it is then. Will send invites to the usual suspects and anyone else who hits me up for one ([emoji12]) before then.
In the meantime there is the Cellar Slack channel for those “at the water cooler” moments you’re missing in your life ...

I will do my best to come! I would like to point out, however, that you don't have to create a new link for every Virtual Forks--zoom encourages you to keep your standing meetings in the same room every time so people can keep using the same link.

Thank you! (I'm still a greenhorn!)

Saw this in the news today. Just an FYI:

Quote:

Zoom under scrutiny in US over privacy, porn hacks

Video conferencing app Zoom, which has seen its popularity skyrocket in the coronavirus pandemic, is in hot water after users complained to the FBI of being startled by porn during meetings. …

New York Attorney General Letitia James sent a letter to the in-vogue California enterprise "with a number of questions to ensure the company is taking appropriate steps to ensure users' privacy and security," a spokesman said. …

… The investigation comes after the FBI's Boston office warned on Monday that it had "received multiple reports of conferences being disrupted by pornographic and/or hate images and threatening language." …

… The FBI recommended that Zoom users make all meetings private and avoid screen sharing to combat would-be hackers. …
Video with disturbing privacy particulars in the linked story.

Oh that was just Clodfobble....

sexobon 03-31-2020 09:58 PM

Yeah, she's a perv.

lumberjim 04-01-2020 06:46 PM

I considered buying a few shares of their stock, ss it seems they will grow in coming months, but then I decided to buy Marijuana. Stocks. I bought stock in a company that sells weed.

Definititely a boom coming in that business. Might take a year, but once it's legal in most states, and people don't have to go through dealers, I see good times ahead.

xoxoxoBruce 04-02-2020 12:05 AM

Start building you greenhouse now.

Griff 04-02-2020 06:28 AM

Pretty sure the Pence administration's gonna end the legal weed.

fargon 04-02-2020 12:34 PM

People in the legal states will not put up with that.

xoxoxoBruce 04-02-2020 12:51 PM

It's only legal by state law, or should I say not illegal by state law.
However it is still a federal offence and the feds can come down on you at any time they choose.
Or they can be persuasive by cutting off federal funds to the state.
The people of the state won't stand for it. How?
When they find out the state has become a prison camp and the Soylent Green machines are circling, what will they do?
What will they do? Remember the US Military is no longer the kid from down the block doing his two year hitch, it's professionals with the capability of taking out you, your block, or your city, at the push of a button.

lumberjim 04-02-2020 07:50 PM

Shush

monster 04-02-2020 08:22 PM

I might have just posted an ickle rant on facebook about judging for other people what is an "essential" item during lockdown. I'm pretty amused by a person responding immediately admitting they are stricter about such things ...a person whom I know considers weed an essential. Because I don't and I'm pretty sure the Feds don't currently....

(stores here were doing curbside pick-up ....but I don't know if they got shut down completely in the recent crackdown by That Woman In Michigan)

BigV 04-02-2020 08:36 PM

found out recently that gun and ammo stores have been reclassifed as essential, permitting them to remain open

Griff 04-02-2020 08:59 PM

I’m pleased that they seem to be using up all their ammo in my neighborhood. Of course you can get it by UPS in PA...

sexobon 04-02-2020 09:30 PM

Handload shotgun shells with some chloroquine tablets, go out and cure some people.

monster 04-02-2020 10:33 PM

They just gonna shoot the fuck outta that coronavirus...... ain't nothin' that can't be stopped with enough bullets -they even slowed The Terminator.....

xoxoxoBruce 04-02-2020 10:35 PM

Much ado about nothing, I get several emails every day about how to beat this virus naturally.

BigV 04-02-2020 11:11 PM

chg subj

just saw ANOTHER article about how Zoom gives with the big print and with the little print taketh away...

Zoom shares LinkenIn details of some meeting participants with meeting host.

xoxoxoBruce 04-02-2020 11:21 PM

I think you'll see more coverage because so many corporate groups as well as law enforcement and others who are discussing sensitive information are concerned with end to end encryption to protect them.
I doubt this group is of interest to the ne'er-do-wells except for Clodfobble's tits.

I'm on my way back, wrap up your gossiping!

Clodfobble 04-05-2020 09:17 PM

Sorry I had to jump out early--the call was from my dad, who is over 70, lives alone, and is generally not taking quarantine as seriously as I'd like... He's fine, though, just wanted to say hi. Good to see everyone for a short while, anyway!

Was he saying Hi from a rave? or other illicit gathering? We expressed admiration for your latest publication adventure in your absence, especially those of us who know who Sid Meier is.... ;)

Clodfobble 04-05-2020 10:53 PM

Fortunately he said hi from his house; unfortunately he mentioned that he's still going to the post office every day "just to check," but he believes his immune system is made of steel because of the extensive amounts of air travel he's done in his career. >:(

If I'm going to get admired in my absence, I should disappear more often!

limey 04-06-2020 12:37 AM

This sounds very familiar. :(

glatt 04-06-2020 06:50 AM

My son has long hair. It’s driving him crazy right now as the temperature warms up. I was in need of a haircut just before this lockdown, and missed the chance. It’s too late now to see a barber until June 10th. That’s too far away.

So my son and I have been studying YouTube videos on how to cut hair. We discuss the techniques we see being used. We’re really taking it seriously. I have been on Amazon, looking at their hair clippers and scissors. They won’t ship either until May or June. So I ordered some scissors from a third party seller.

My son thinks he wants a buzz cut. He had a buzz cut in 2006 when he was 4, so I dug our the external drive and found the pictures of that haircut to show him. So the whole family was looking at these awesome pictures, and wanted to see more. We spent a long time going through pictures of 2006, and it was a great nostalgic journey.

And then we got to a picture of me in front of a computer monitor, and lumberjim was on the computer screen. Behind him was another computer monitor with somebody else in front of their monitor.

I said “oh yeah, I‘ve got a Zoom call with my Cellar friends at 4:00” and I looked up at the clock which said 4:40. Oops.

And then I realized that if I wanted to join the tail end of the call, I would have to kick my family off the laptop and stop the little trip down memory lane. I couldn’t do that.

I’m sorry I missed the call.

I’ll make it up by posting a video of me getting a hair cut and me giving my first haircut. Once the scissors arrive.

lumberjim 04-06-2020 07:14 AM

That's ok. Just find that thread and bump it. I think I had Pi on my screen?
