Banned by Trump

For the first time, the White House decided to ban some major news outlets from a White House Briefing. Banned were the NY Times, Los Angeles Times, CNN, and Politico. White House refused to admit they were banned for not printing the company line. Sound like the early days of Putin?

From CNN's Jake Trapper:
Quote:

A White House that has had some difficulty telling the truth and that has seemed to have trouble getting up to speed on the basic competent functioning of government, and a president who seems particularly averse to any criticism and has called the press the enemies of the American people - they're taking the next step in attempting to avoid checks and balances and accountability. It's not acceptable. In fact, it's petulant, and indicative of a lack of basic understanding of how an adult White House functions.
When asked about the reason for a ban, White House's Spicer say he rejected the premise of the question - as if those news services were not banned.

Apparently this has something to do with stories from these news media that Trump tried to get the FBI to quash the fact that top Trump campaign people were in regular conversation with Russian intelligent agents.

Who does Trump's plumbing?

They weren't banned. They involuntarily withdrew. You really need to bone up on your Trump-speak.

Some withdrew because others were banned.

heh - reread your comment.

Some voluntarily withdrew because others involuntarily withdrew.

Favorite comment about this "it's petulant" hahaha!

Favorite result about this, those not withdrawn shared their notes and audio with those who'd been shunned. HAHAHA HAHA!

To be fair - I seem to recall Obama excluding Fox from briefings - or am I mis-remembering?

Could be, certainly Clinton wouldn't exclude any Foxes. ;)

A NYT article from 2009 goes into detail. The Obama administration didn't try to kick Fox out of normal White House briefings, but did exclude them from a round of interviews with a particular Treasury official, and called them "not a real news organization" due to the amount of talk-radio style content.

You again need to be informed before posting the usual cheapshot denials.

Listed were four banned news services. Apparently the BBC and Guardian were also banned - since the British news services are also propaganda arms of the liberal media. Since they too reported on how Trump tried to suppress multiple "Trump campaign / Russian intelligence" conversations. Some others, who discovered the ban, boycotted the briefing. Others, who discovered the ban after that briefing, said they would have also boycotted.

Long time White House correspondents stated it had never happened previously in their professional lifetime. But this is classic Trump - with lying.

Neither Fox News (in 21 years) nor any other news service with credentials was banned from a White House briefing. One should know that before posting empty accusations.
