I own the album. Yes, Union. Music like this resonates with me, I saw you played some Yes earlier in the thread and it kicked me off on my own music playing spree here at home. So I posted this one off of the Union album.

Good one Philthy ...

Thanks Joe, was curious. I still have a hard time really getting into that album.
Found this one I haven't heard in awhile though.

What do you think about that one?

zippyt 01-19-2012 03:34 PM

Pretty cool

jimhelm 01-19-2012 04:44 PM

yeah, it's interesting. It is kind of a cover... sort of, which I generally like. but at the same time is technically sampling, which I am generally opposed to....

Charley, Split Enz. Lead - Tim Finn.
Neither of these is really Music on YouTube (as they're just recordings).
But YouTube is where I found them.

Indulge me.

Album version.
Full musical backing. Higher in pitch, which works given the lyrics, as does the solo voice; a man on the edge:

Finn Brothers (acoustic).
Two guitars, live.
Lower pitch and harmonies.

Neil (imho) has the better voice, although it's a tough call on some songs.
I'm a sucker for harmony. This lacks the despair to me, and after all I heard the original when I was 16.

Jury? Out.
