Al Gore III Charged With Drug Possession

Gore's Son Charged With Drug Possession

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) -- Al Gore's son was charged Friday with possessing marijuana and other drugs that authorities say were discovered in his car after he was pulled over this month for speeding.

He faces two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said in a statement. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for allegedly driving faster than 100 miles per hour.

Prosecutors said he could be sentenced to a maximum of three years and eight months in prison if convicted on all counts, though he might be eligible for a drug treatment program instead of prison.

Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for Gore's parents, said the family had no comment.

The charges stem from July 4, when Orange County sheriff's deputies say they pulled Gore over for speeding.

Gore was allegedly driving a 2006 blue Toyota Prius at about 100 mph. Upon searching the car, deputies say they discovered less than an ounce of marijuana and a variety of medications - including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. Authorities said

I wonder why this wasn't splashed all over the radio & TV - or did I just miss it?

No surprise. What kind of politician's kid would he be if he hadn't done this. Living up to the stereotype, quite well.
And who HASN'T gotten caught at least once for marijuana. Really. :D I mean let's be serious. Not by the police I mean, but by your girlfriend, aunt or heck your neighbor catching you lying on his grass at noon watching the clouds go by.

He hasn't gotten the Bush daughters treatment from the press, has he?

I think any really successful politician will be a pretty bad parent. They spend their days engaged in other peoples business rather than their own, that is not ideal.

Me. ;)

This isn't really big news (or news at all), I hate this kind of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if most kids in his situation will do that. The pot isn't bad, the 100 mph worries me.

Maybe because his father is not currently a government official, or a religious/moral spouting hypocrit.

A - Who knew a Prius could do 100?
B - Is there something hypocritical about being environmentally responsible and a doper? ;)

Both of his parents are "religious/moral spouting hypocrit"s. Thankfully the people have spoken as far as Al's public career is concerned.

Not to mention the smoke they are polluting the air with. :D

Really, stories like this are fluff for the ignorant masses. Stories about the Bush twins, Chelsey's latest boyfriend, or some Prince in the UK who used poor judgement, all the same. AKA Random Stupid Stuff.

What y'all should do while you ride around on your motorcycles is smash people's TVs. Seriously.

Where is the OP's paragraph about Tammy Faye Baker Messner dying? That also is essential information.

Lightning struck a tree down the street. It make a big noise. More important news. And its not even a slow news week.
