Then that perception IS reality.

classicman 03-18-2010 03:35 PM

but thats just your perception of the reality that isn't the real reality.

Shawnee123 03-18-2010 03:39 PM

Your perception is your reality. I don't know that the color I call "red" looks the same to me as it does to you. However, humans have agreed to what "red" is. Therefore, it doesn't matter if your red is my green, the reality is that it is red. We can perceive this reality differently, but that doesn't make it less real.

Or, something.

classicman 03-18-2010 05:02 PM

lol - but your perception may not be reality. Try that analogy with a statement like "I can fly..."

Wait - don't try that. We'll all be overrun by the hobos.

Did anyone buy my book yet?

Well, I'll admit the cover pretty much gives it away...

"Coincidence" is one of my favorite words.
So is it coincidence that the shelling of Aleppo, Syria is in the news
now along with this article in the NY Times about the "Aleppo Codex" ?

It's a long (9-pages) article, and I admit I didn't known anything about the Codex.
But it's an intriguing story... worth reading.

A High Holy Whodunit
Quote:

As a small group of us stood in a circle inside the vault in which the [Aleppo] codex now resides,
Michael Maggen, the head of the museum’s paper-conservation lab,
donned a pair of gloves and carefully lifted one of its unbound pages,
covered with three columns of beautiful calligraphy, for us to see.
The pages were made from animal hides that were stretched and bleached and cut to make parchment
the scribe’s ink was made of powdered tree galls mixed with iron sulfate and black soot.

“Considering the difficult conditions that the manuscript suffered over a great many years,” James Snyder,
the museum’s director, said, “it is in remarkably excellent condition.”
Snyder was happy to talk about how fortunate the museum was to be able to display the codex
alongside the 2,000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls and about the painstaking restoration that has taken place.

But he refused to speculate on the sensitive question of where the missing pages,
which constitute about 40 percent of the codex and whose value is estimated to be
in the many millions of dollars, might be and how they might have disappeared.

I did a simple search of Cellar postings for "codex" and found only one in 2004 that might have a connection

Coincidentally, I'm reading Warriors of God. Aleppo was the last independent fief Saladin conquered before opening a can o' whup ass on the Crusaders. I get nervous when the cultural elite start pimping the moral necessity of war.

JBKlyde 07-29-2012 09:01 PM

I believe I am a total fool.. but I try to make it fool for 'Christ' , I believe that people should act in a way that is good and holy and people who don't need to be taught how to. I believe that unlike the mafia; war is a necessary thing. And I don't never have never will believe in the God of Islam. I believe that faith will find it's way into someones heart if they stay true to themself. I don't believe in sex though It's fun to pretend. I believe Jesus will save my soul in the end.

JBKlyde, I totally dig the vibe of what you're layin' down; and I know, in my heart of hearts, that you need to buy my book, bro.

Griff 07-30-2012 06:54 AM

JB- You worship the same god as Islamists . They'd tell you your mistake is making him polytheistic.

Flint- You make me cry, in a good way.

I want the audio book narrated by clodfobble

Clodfobble 08-23-2012 05:16 PM

Right now I'm doing a long, dry course on pharmaceutical intellectual copyright law. I would put it on the back burner in favor one of Flint's books, in a heartbeat.
