Most definitely. The Roots are now permanently etched in my brain.

And the Cellar did start in 215, actually - even considering that it started before the area code split to begin with. It in fact even started in S.P.

*enlightened*

These overlays are going to be the death of us. 215 sounds cool. 267 sounds...dorky. 610 sounds cool...484 sounds country.

sycamore

and the 420 sounds even COOLER!

I'm there on the 6th... who's with?

What syc said, Headhouse @ 2nd and Lombard, say, around 8-ish? Sounds like a good starting point.

I will have what's left of a NJ MGD 12-pack with me, you can have the rest...

See you guys there...

:D

Oh wait!

I just saw something on the map that I have to see!

A Man Full of Trouble Tavern?! What the hell is that? I have to get a pic standing in front of that place!

For info on the tavern, check out this link. It's over at 2nd and Spruce...about 2 blocks from Headhouse Square.

OK, syc

We'll meet at the Man FOT, for starters...

Where to park on a Saturday nite?

A couple of options:

--2nd and Lombard: There are two parking garages on Lombard--one behind Friday's and one behind XandO. I used to park at the one behind XandO when I worked down there. I believe they have the lowest rates on Saturday nights.

--Street parking on Spruce, between Columbus and 2nd St.--I don't know if the meters are still on in that section of town at night though.

One more week to go, I'm getting psyched!

OK here's the deal...

Dragging my sorry ass out of bed in Cape May Saturday a.m. the 6th. Driving back to Philly, probably leave there around noon. I've not decided on using the GSP and ACE on the way back. If it's more woodsy, and maybe even a little fall color creeping in, I may take NJ 55. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Check into my hotel by the airport around 3, then it's off to downtown.

I did the Liberty Bell and Ind. Hall thing last time I was there (it was too damn cold to do anything else), so I'm looking for a new thrill.

How would you spend a beautiful afternoon in Philadelphia, if you got to see it again, with the eyes of a child, as it were?

*sycamore's netscape goes insane, so he pulls the Cellar up on IE. He is utterly confused, as it looks completely different than it does on NS.*

Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!

Okay then...

I have never made the drive to or from Atlantic City, other than I know you can take either the GSP and ACE to Philadelphia, or US-9 to NJ-49 to NJ-55...or something like that.

See my earliest post to this thread regarding neato stuff to do...of course though, I specialize in mixing the touristy stuff with the oddball stuff. The first time I came to Philadelphia, I just HAD to see the Spectrum...that was the first thing I wanted to see. And it's not like I could go inside of it or anything...I just wanted to see the home of the Broad Street Bullies. Then I drove around City Hall...several times.

Hell, I still do it now. And when I lived in DC (the home of traffic circles), I had a strange habit of driving around Westmoreland Circle several times every time I was in that neighborhood. *shrugs*

Thanks, sycamore

I'll figure out a route from NJ. My question is, are the fall colors coming in up there yet?

Undertoad suggested the Mutter Museum. Heard of it, actually made a list of one of the ten best museums in the country. I guess it's OK if you want to see one of Wm. Penn's dessicated testicles!

I was actually looking for something more upscale, or even mainstream, like where do all the good looking women hang out? :D

Ummm...starting to, but not a whole lot. The weather has been relatively warm until this past week.

Oh man, I want to go to that place! I was just watching one of Burt Wolf's shows on PBS, and they happened to show his trip to Philadelphia. One of the places he went to was the Mutter Museum. I've never been there, but it was fascinating to see the stuff they have.

Tool. ;)

(NBN, this is my little piece of advice that I feel necessary to give a visitor, given that I am a resident of Philadelphia, and a non-native. No disrespect meant to the women on this list that are from Philadelphia. While I love Philadelphia, this city has some of the roughest-looking women you will ever see. Rather hard on the eyes.)

Now then, for places where you might find good looking ladies:

--Starbucks, 34th and Walnut. College coeds, although it will be a Saturday.

--Art Museum

--South Street (although I would classify some of the ladies down there as "alternachicks.")

--Society Hill: Yep, this is probably the best place to check out the ladies in Philadelphia. XandO at 2nd and Lombard (right across from the Headhouse). Many a day while working at CVS across the street, I would admire the scenery. ;)

Now then, I had better duck and run. ;)
