THE NEW CHRYSLER 300

ooooh. I usually don;t get really excited by a new car. especially a new chrysler. this, however, turned my head:

http://www.chrysler.com/300series/img/main_300.jpg

oh, by the way, if anyone is interested in going to the phila auto show this year, let me know, and I'll try to get you tickets.

this looks pretty cool too. Hey bruce, wanna trade your GT?

elSicomoro 01-20-2004 06:24 PM

It looks similar to the Infiniti M45. I'm sure it's a nice car, but I like the look of the 300M more...this new 300 doesn't have the sporty look of the 300M, IMO.

(Yo Jimbo! Score me some tix!)

lumberjim 01-20-2004 06:35 PM

I assumed you'd be wantin to go, syc, and already have 2 employee passes set aside for you and Rho. I have 3 that are unspoken for as yet, and can prolly get a few more.

elSicomoro 01-20-2004 06:47 PM

Whoohoo! You rock man! I definitely want to check out some of the new rides...even if I can't afford them.

lumberjim 01-20-2004 06:49 PM

tix will go out in mail tomorrow. my pleasure

Undertoad 01-20-2004 07:06 PM

I smell mini-GTG.

lumberjim 01-20-2004 07:13 PM

HMMM.....
the show is 1-31 thru 2-5 weekdays 12p-10p, sat 1-31 9a-10p, sun 2/1 9a-6p

i have 4 more "admit 2 adults" employee passes ( freeeeee admission) for those of you who wantem.

jinx and i went a couple years ago, and it was pretty cool. i don;t know if she'll want to go again, or if we'll be able to get a sitter, but it'd be nice to meet some of ya locals.

Sun_Sparkz 01-20-2004 08:54 PM

I loved the PT Cruisers when they came out.. especially the black one.. SO sexy! but that convertible is gorgeous!! what are they retailing for in America.. ?

lumberjim 01-20-2004 08:58 PM

$22,900 - $27k plus for the TURBO A- ROOM -A- ZOOM-ZOOM!

I like the brilliant blue the best. the black ones look like little tiny hearses.

Sun_Sparkz 01-20-2004 09:10 PM

Then they would probably be about 55k here.

I like the black ones because they remind me of the big gangster bosses cars.. how cool would it be to see 5 or 6 of them all driving together down the highway or something!! HA! you would let them merge in for sure!!

jinx 01-20-2004 09:30 PM

I don't know.... I can't decide. It looks really sharp in the pictures with the 18 in wheels, but kinda dorky in the other pictures on the website.

lumberjim 01-20-2004 10:14 PM

hey, look what i found for OnyxCougar:

http://www.chrysler.com/ptcruisercon.../enlarge_1.jpg

Sun_Sparkz 01-20-2004 10:18 PM

I am seriously falling in love with this car. Are they soft top, it looks like it.

lumberjim 01-20-2004 10:35 PM

actually, it's a bit ugly with the top up :(

http://www.chrysler.com/ptcruisercon.../enlarge_6.jpg

Sun_Sparkz 01-20-2004 10:39 PM

ooh.. yeah i dont like it like that at all.

I would def. reccommend leaving the top down whilst floggin them to customers.

xoxoxoBruce 01-20-2004 10:51 PM

Nope.:p

wolf 01-20-2004 11:55 PM

The 300 looks VERY Mercedes for a Chrysler, I must say.

I have to agree on the whole top-down thing on the PTCruiser Convertable.

With all due respect to Bruce, as I know he likes his, I just don't get them ... that particular expression of "retro" doesn't work for me aesthetically. I mean they aren't as ugly as Honda Odyssey or anything, but I just don't like 'em.

FileNotFound 01-21-2004 11:11 AM

I want a SRT-8.

Thats it.

Thank you.

That's why cars come in 31 flavors.:)

I

its made of diced up mercedes.

plus, it is rear wheel drive, and has tilt wheel, for more head room.

wolf 01-23-2004 02:07 AM

That took a couple of seconds to sink in there, LJ. Funny.

lumberjim 01-23-2004 02:09 AM

you'd be surprised at how many times i was able to blow that by customers ( pardon the pun) when i was selling.....the other salespeopls always got a kick out of it. Power floor mats would get by sometimes, too.

elSicomoro 01-27-2004 06:21 PM

Jimbo and I (and our SO's) are going to the Auto Show this Sunday, Feb. 1. If you bitches wanna meet up with us and hang, pm me.

Dagney 01-27-2004 07:21 PM

I'm sure that Brian would love to, and I'd like to as well, unfortunately, we're celebrating my 33rd at Medieval Times.

Have some fun for us! if they're giving away free ones, I'll take a dark green Durango Hemi! :)

Dags

I hope they make this one....it's been a concept for a long time now....supposed to be entry level priced it's called the "icon" it's a jeep, if you can't tell.

That had to be the oddest car I'd ever seen, but I couldn't take my eyes off of it! :D

Looks like the batcar. LJ, do you know if the design came before or after the first batman movie?

lumberjim 02-02-2004 12:41 PM

no clue...we all thought of that movie "Tron" remember that one?

Michael Roth 02-02-2004 01:35 PM

mmmm Tron....

http://www.cybermonkey.jp/html/game/swron/

elSicomoro 02-02-2004 07:40 PM

I looked around the net to see if I could find something about that space-age GM concept, but I couldn't find anything.

Some of my favorites from the auto show:
--Cadillac Sixteen (concept)
--Buick Centieme (concept, pictured on page 2)
--Chevrolet Equinox
--Audi S4
--BMW 6-series (I believe the one at the show was the 645)

xoxoxoBruce 02-02-2004 07:53 PM

Caddy's nice.

xoxoxoBruce 02-02-2004 07:54 PM

Chevy's nicer.

elSicomoro 02-02-2004 10:16 PM

Did you go down there, Bruce?

xoxoxoBruce 02-02-2004 10:56 PM

No.

lumberjim 02-03-2004 12:59 AM

looove the SSR...couldn't get near it. That was kinda pissin me off. tough to get a picture, too. you really could only get shots of the ones on the platforms. Jinx waited in line to sit in the TT. then this kid butted in front of her. nice. It was better the year we went on a weeknight. you could actually look at them. too crowded on sunday.

Rokko 02-03-2004 01:05 AM

anyone else fnd the Ford 427 rediculously awesome?

http://www.cardesignnews.com/autosho...d-427-1617.jpg

elSicomoro 02-03-2004 06:37 PM

I didn't look at it Sunday, but it is indeed a sweet car.

xoxoxoBruce 02-03-2004 07:37 PM

I've noticed a distinct swing toward making cars look more agressive. Probably to lure back SUV and truck buyers. I'm not sure the desire to intimidate fellow travelers, bodes well for the future.:worried:

lumberjim 02-03-2004 07:56 PM

huh. as i was driving to this very auto show, i wished more than once that i was driving a road warrior esque vehicle with huge iron plates, and spikes and shit through that traffic....i bet that prick in the ford explorer would have let me merge.......I think i'll just put a 3" lift kit on the family Jeep and a brush guard.....after the warranty expires...

styling has taken over the top spot in why people select a particular model. it used to be safety, before that, economy, before that, performance.....now it's all about the bling bling.

xoxoxoBruce 02-03-2004 09:24 PM

Why wouldn't he let you merge? was he waiting in line 15 minutes and you blew past the line waiting and wanted to cut in the front of the line?

lumberjim 02-04-2004 01:18 AM

If I was a cop, i would drag people from their cars and beat them if i saw them do that shit. beat them bloody.

we watched a sonofabitch in a volvo wagon w/ NY tags pull that very stunt on the way home. Forget speeding...cops need to enforce ettiquette. these pricks that didn't learn how to stand in line in kindergarten, like the rest of us must be stopped.

merging should be so simple...people around here just don;t get it. they get it in boston...( and they have scary little rotaries to negotiate) .....and LA. ( cuz they're afraid of getting shot). I'v always wanted to carry a paint ball gun, and learn to shoot it left handed.....but my wife won't let me....

wolf 02-04-2004 01:44 AM

Just don't do it while she's in the car.

FileNotFound 02-04-2004 11:36 AM

9mm FMJ, go for the front tires.

Or just go get yourself a Dodge Intepid "Police Interceptor" edition...

Or the Crown Vic, with the give away side light:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6227

Everyone will make room for you...

wolf 02-04-2004 12:57 PM

Friend of mine had a white crown vic. It was a hoot riding with him, because cars on the turnpike would slow down and get out of his way. He enhanced the whole look by getting one of the "DARE" license plates.

lumberjim 02-04-2004 01:01 PM

dirty pool
edit....wouldn't that be infuriating when you're in a hurry?

FileNotFound 02-04-2004 01:02 PM

What do you need to do to get a dare plate anyway?

lumberjim 02-04-2004 01:07 PM

go to wiggins or best auto tags, fillout the application, pay $35?....

FileNotFound 02-04-2004 01:34 PM

Hmm...how much of a "U.S. Government" plate?

xoxoxoBruce 02-04-2004 07:18 PM

I have DARE plates on two of my vehicles. Can't hurt.:)

lumberjim 04-07-2004 12:37 PM

IT HAS ARRIVED

We just got our first 300 delivered. It's gorgeous. Vanilla white, limited trim. what a sweet car. whatever else chrysler does wrong, they make up for a lot of it in the design department.
