First of all, fuck the patriots. It's enough already. Jesus.
Today I tackled dust extraction. Mostly.
I wanted a central type set up with ports in the places I mount my machines. And I wanted a port on the bench top for cleanup.
I decided on a PVC center duct with hoses coming off at T couplings. Thinking it through, I need blast gates to cordon off sections not in use, so I don't bleed suction.
I committed my largest shop vac to the duty. So it starts there. I had measured the dimensions of the hose couplings on it, the dust extraction ports on the drill and saw, and the smaller 2 vacuums.
Happened to be that the T couplings had an external diameter close to the internal diameter of the main vacuum hose coupling.
One arm of the T runs up from the vacuum hose, the other up above the bench top where I've attached a hose. The post of the T goes into a cylindrical shut off valve and on to a pipe under the bench.
That pipe has another T, or 'drop' to the drill press port. Then another cut off valve and on to the band saw port.
