The use of the English word "sᴛᴏᴘ" on stop signs
isn't quite globally universal, but is nearly so. It's particularly ubiquitous in Europe; including in those countries where English is not a national language, or even widely spoken.
"Zone" is a perfectly valid German word.
Means the same in German as in English.
