melts
Speaking of M&M's in your hand, the old slogan "Melts in Your Mouth, Not in Your Hand" was actually developed during WWII, when the Pentagon was looking for a chocolate candy for the GI's which would not require washing after eating. In keeping with the U.S. armed forces requirements for edible combat rations, the M&M Mars corporation created the top secret formula for a colorful candy shell, but for camoflage purposes, only brown and green were offered for distribution to combat areas ("Candy Goes to War" LIFE Magazine, August 1943, pp 35-38).
