The way these things work right now, you can either put in the admin time to plan a smooth move,...
...or you can boldly pull the plug in location A, march everything over to location B, plug it in, configure it, and wait the day or two while the net picks up the changes. (During which the whole thing may be unavailable.)
I had lost sysadmin honor earlier by allowing the old compromised machine to be a security risk. I felt it was important to regain that honor by making this transition as smooth as silk. I believe that things are now karmically put right. I want some level of pride in a job done well.
