got it. windvd has builtin screencap support too. i was trying to find a way to do it without having to install any more software, but i guess that went down the tubes with the first screencap software i installed. bah. its nice software at any rate, demos arent always bad.
thanks verbatim! one of these days ill have a linux box with a dvdrom drive on it, and ill remember that.
