Pimpin' Coat

It's been 9 years...

The last time I bought a coat was in late 1993. When you're little, you go through a new coat just about every year. But by '93, I had grown as much as I was gonna grow, and bought a nice coat to get me through the oddball winters in St. Louis.

That whole time, I've had a burning desire for an overcoat. You know, one of those nice long wool coats that's part business, part pimp, part John Gotti. It is simply a bad-ass coat, and I wanted to own one.

Whenever I wanted to buy one, I never seemed to have the money. I would look in thrift shops, but could never find one in my size. Then, I'd forget about the whole thing for a while...well, forget no more.

My mom offered to give me $100 towards a new coat. Well, since I'm relatively poor and not below taking money, I gladly took her up on her offer.

After perusing a couple of stores, I strolled out of Burlington Coat Factory at Franklin Mills with a snazzy black overcoat. It's nice and warm and has plenty of pocket space. And of course, it fits like a glove. $149.98--well worth me chipping in the extra $50...it'll last me 10 years.

And the compliments thus far?

--That looks like a nice warm coat. (It is.)
--You look like a mafia guy in that coat. (I do, though unlike the mafia, I have no money.)

This is the greatest coat I have ever had. It gives me that "professional" look when strolling along Market Street.

And what better way to end this thread but with a picture of a coat similar to my own?
