I have purchased a few video rigs before, and I would recommend the Sorenson VP100 for videoconferencing, and I really like the Logitech
Quickcam for Notebooks Pro. That's the one we got for DaughterofV. The avatars range from funny to hysterical. The quality is excellent as well.
As to the second point, I won't be buying one for myself as you have already seen my best: text. Sorry.
