8/14: Shoe of person hit by lightning

It's the height of the lightning season here and there is much discussion of it. Two days ago a house about 2 miles away from me was struck and the resulting fireball and fire took down the house. A guy was hit and killed while crabbing on the Delaware. A few weeks ago a guy was hit on the Jersey shore by a bolt that went 8 miles horizontally. The sky was clear over his head, but the lightning sought him out.

This isn't from any of those events. This is from a lightning photo gallery on NOAA's website.

Gross thing about this picture: there must be bits of charred human in there... one day you're wearing your shoes, and the next day, your shoes are wearing you.
