I'm sure the "celebrities", who have never seen a live sheep except at the petting zoo, have been presented an amazingly lurid description, complete with color glossies and a paragraph on the back, of mulesing. Probably dramatic background music with the slick presentation that would cause Shepherds to sign up for the cause.
Never underestimate PETA, they have money, no scruples and some devilishly clever strategists.
