A Call to Action: The "State" of Cervical Cancer Prevention in America was developed at the request of our Cervical Cancer Elimination Task Force and provides a baseline assessment of states' current progress on this issue, while identifying opportunities for improvement. It evaluates published national data and state legislative activity, and has been reviewed by the leading consulting firm, Boston Healthcare Associates.
The report's key conclusion is: While the states vary significantly in their current efforts to prevent cervical cancer, none of the states are where they could be, given that cervical cancer is highly preventable - particularly with the availability of advanced and appropriate screening technologies such as HPV testing - no American woman should die of cervical cancer.
The Nation as a whole received a grade of "Good" for efforts to prevent cervical cancer.
