PS3 demonstrates a problem that all knowledgeable computer users also understand. We just don't know how to utilize multiprocessor programming. Intel is about to release an 80 processor chip for use of programming researchers (does not use standard Pentium machine code). PS3 suffers from same. An early demonstration required code from a researcher in Waterloo Canada because multiprocessor programming proved too difficult for PlayStation engineers. PS3 is part of a pioneering effort into uncharted computer programming research. As usual, software is again playing catch-up to hardware.
