I find this image jarring. First of all, pictures that are taken 90 degrees to the ground don't feel right because we don't view our world that way. Second the colors are too vivid, or off hue, because of the false coloring. The only way I would agree with Katkeeper as to saying that this is art, is in how in has been digitally synthesized. I don't dipute however that the image is amazing, but I don't believe it is truly photography. Even color infrared photos I have seen (with wierd colorization) seem more real than this image.

Also it could just be the framing. Images taken too close up, lose their context and meaning and become abtracted. I guess if I look at it that way then I could allow it to be a photograph.
