The Powerbooks that I heard of from Iraq weren't armored. The Toughbooks were. One of my supervisors (a MSgt. in the Reserves) just spent a year over in the sandbox, and had people from his unit over there before him, including some Apple fans.
His iPod survived just fine, too.
