Yeah, the only deep-fried stuff that tastes good cold is fried chicken.  Fried veggies that way must be taken hot.  Hot lipids rule!

 Frying gently'll get 'em hot -- this is sometimes called oatmeal scrapple --  but a hot frying pan gives them a bit of crispiness that adds to the dish.  Butter flavor is essential; don't use a light-flavor or no-flavor oil.
