A few years back the Pentagon acknowledged the existence of the "Office of Strategic Disinformation". No surprise, deceiving the foe is one of the most efficient ways of waging war. What surprised me was that they acknowledged it.
Unsurprisingly there was a bit of a stink, with folks asking if they weren't disinforming the US public too. And so another press conference was called, in which it was solemnly declared that:

Stony calm, straight-faced delivery. Brilliant. Oscar time. And not one reporter dared giggle, let alone ask if this was itself a piece of... strategic disinformation...
