A couple years back I bought a
Stevie Ray Vaughan 3-CD 1-DVD boxed set. The stuff on the CDs was generally good, but the DVD was amazing. It's comprised of five tracks that were edited out of
Stevie Ray Vaughan Live From Austin Texas, but these five are the best of the bunch... whoever did the editing for that original DVD needs their ass kicked.
Anyway, it's not a big fancy production, it's just a great guitaraist and his band playing their music at a relatively small venue, but it's amazing anyway. In playing, Stevie Ray seems to make numerous serious attempts on the lives of the audience, particularly in his rendition of Hendrix's Voodoo Chile. It looks like every note burns coming out of him. I'd give my left nut for a chance to go back in time to see him play live before he died. Damn.
