You know, they guy who developed both the tetra-ethyl lead (TEL) additive to gasoline and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)!
Yep, leaded petrol and CFCs, from one guy!
To be fair, if he hadn't come up with these, probably someone else would have. Although he fought strongly to deny the obvious harmful effects of lead.
He died in 1944, killed by one of his own inventions - strangled by the ropes of his "bed-assist device" which was meant to ease his sleep after he suffered polio.
