1) Fred Phelps and his "Church" are an abomination in the sight of God and Man.

2) I admire a lot of talented people, and mourn their passing. Often it is actors/actresses/musicians and other creative people. This is because the pleasure derived from their efforts is, for me, a thing apart and above the baseline of the deaths of other humans. This isn't because everyone else's life is less valuable, productive or important than that of a famous person. It is simply because I wasn't actively aware of that person's contributions to the All.

I acknowledge people who make an impact on my consciousness. Sometimes, those people aren't famous. The bottom line is, before I can acknowledge someone's passing, I do, at a minimum, need to be actively aware of them and what they were about.
