A couple weekends ago, I spent almost two hours on
eyebuydirect.com, selecting my new glasses. They have this thing, where you can upload a picture of yourself and put the different glasses on that image to see what they will look like on you. I used my Cellar profile picture, since it was easy to find.
It's a little extra work, but the idea is a good one. Also the glasses are as good as what you can get from an optometrist, in my experience. (Don't tell spexvet.)
I figured spending two hours on this was a long time, but if I had gone to a glasses store, it would have been two hours once you figure in the drive time, etc.
So anyway, I was checking out, and in the dropdown menu for states, they didn't include Virginia. Virgin Islands was there, but not Virginia. WTF?
My wife already had an account with them, so I logged in under her name and bought the glasses under her account, but with my prescription. They had our address just fine in there. I would have left it at that, but she's nice. She sent them an e-mail explaining the flaw in their website. They thanked her for pointing out the problem and promised to fix it.
Glasses came a few days ago, and I love them. Around $45, including shipping. The last time I bought a pair in a store, they were around $200. Never again.
Long winded way of saying that yeah, shopping online is great, but can be a pain.
