It's a test of your mothering abilities, if you get the good stuff back you know you brought them up properly
BTW am also irritated by International Mothers Day emarketing. No, it's NOT International, any more than the World Series is worldwide. We celebrate ours according to the Christian calendar as is traditional.
For the record I just sent mine a card (I wasn't working back then). But it was chosen with great care and written with much love.
