At first I was not to keen on them. It just didn't seem pure not having that metal rod stuck through the meat and veggies, but after I used it a few time the food came out so much better cooked. It has always been a challenge to keep tomatos on the rod as they cooked and the other veggies like onions tend to fall apart as they cook. So it really is a great little device.
