I tried to do a good deed for my mother, but failed. She wanted me to go vote for a specific person for city council, because that candidate is neighborhood-friendly while her opponent is developer-friendly, and my mother's neighborhood is currently experiencing a huge urbanization as the land values skyrocket, so she has a vested interest.
Turns out that even though I do still live in the city (by only a few blocks,) I technically live in a different county, thus the polling location she sent me to couldn't help me. I don't think I'll be making the effort to drag everyone out again to a polling location somewhere in my own county, but you never know.
