Seriously, that was a test they did years back in the development. When they wanted to increase the size of the engines and develop a stronger drive line, they did a bunch of these "what if" tests, intentionaly failing parts to see what effect it would have on the ship. Notice it's tied down inside an earthen berm, because they knew it would fail, just not how.
