So, I am a supervisor of a call center involving about 50 people in two departments (Resort Reservations and Switchboard). Anyway, they are asked to go to meetings, discuss departmental changes, improvements, etc....they have requested they get e-mail (which I am against). Why you ask? Well, because one of the departments already have it and I have noticed they sit there e-mailing back and forth like it's IM. They rarely get off your butt and look at each other. Their people skills become diminished, their patience doesn't exist anymore and they begin interpreting how e-mails are written and it starts drama. Why do people get sucked in an become so numb?
Flip-side...people who have social anxiety issues or some sort of problem are able to log on online and have a social life with technology that they never had before.
