I think we are addressing two separate points. I am sticking to your double standard comment.

You are calling it a double standard because you believe hate speech is hate speech whether it is "fuck Bush" or "Barack the Magic Negro". I disagree with that but it isn't worth arguing over because I assume neither of us is going to budge on that issue.

So, I brought up the second aspect of why people are getting their panties in a bunch, the fact that it was said by a politician who wants to lead the Republican party. That counters your double standard argument because no anti-Bush statement was said by anyone of that stature in the Democratic party.

I will back up that claim by saying that the same reaction was not produced when Palin rally supporters shouted "kill Obama" or when Rush Limbaugh played the "Barack the Magic Negro" song. I was not accusing you of agreeing with Rush Limbaugh unlike tw.

So even though a racist comment, whether intention or not, will get more of reaction than "fuck Bush", the large reaction was produced by who actually said it, not the actual statement.
