Gravity, she's a harsh mistress.
The funniest such episode I've witnessed wasn't me, but a friend of mine at college. A group of us were at Wendy's, where they have those countertops with the rounded edges. The person behind the counter handed her coke to her, which she went to set down.
I guess she was only looking at the countertop from the corner of her eye or something, because she set it on the rounded edge at about a 45° angle and it slid right off onto the floor. She was relatively safe, but our other two friends got rather drenched.
